Registered Nurse (RN) | Correctional Location: Watonga, OK Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,254 per week Shift Information: 3 days Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: 3/30/2026 About the Position TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Correctional RN in Watonga, Oklahoma, 73772! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Registered Nurse Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Days or nights available Hours per Shift: 36 hours guaranteed Experience: Minimum one year of professional nursing experience preferred License: Must possess current licensure in the state of employment Certifications: Valid driver's license required Must-Have: - Medication administration - Emergency procedures - Nursing care Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care. This includes executing Licensed Independent Provider orders and administering medications. The RN assists Licensed Independent Providers in examinations and treatment of patients. Nursing and supervisory techniques are applied in the care and treatment of inmates/residents. The RN performs all technical and clinical procedures within the scope of their education and licensure. They attend sick calls with the physician to see inmates/residents. The RN prepares a list of inmates/residents to be examined and prepares the examining room and equipment. They operate pill call, dispense medication, and document as required by policies and procedures. The RN contacts Licensed Independent Providers for medication and treatment orders during emergencies. They examine and assess new inmates/residents with illnesses or injuries. If necessary, they refer inmates/residents to emergency rooms or other healthcare facilities. The RN performs emergency procedures as needed and notifies Licensed Independent Providers for treatment orders. They assist in coordinating professional medical services provided by contracted personnel. The RN monitors inmate/resident inpatient hospitalizations for early releases when appropriate. They provide guidance and supervise nursing care provided by licensed vocational/practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff. Building a good working relationship with facility staff, nursing staff, and outside provider agencies is essential. The RN utilizes established corporate and facility policies in decision-making. Regular evaluations of medical service provisions are necessary to prevent inappropriate use or duplication of those services. Maintaining confidentiality of all medical records is crucial. The RN assists with the review of medical files to ensure proper documentation of services. They monitor all potential catastrophic illnesses closely. The RN audits pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as required. Complying with all applicable pharmacy laws, especially those covering controlled substances, is required. The RN observes and records inmate/resident behavior. Inspecting the medical unit for items that could be used as contraband is a necessary duty. Health counseling and education is provided on an individual or group basis as required. The RN assists with preparing and maintaining various operational records and reports in a timely manner. They read, analyze, comprehend, and interpret medical procedures, governmental regulations, and legal documents. The RN reviews and processes lawsuits and attends court hearings when necessary. They evaluate and recommend physical safety requirements to provide a safe working environment. The RN facilitates accreditation of the medical program by providing required medical services. Safety and accident reports are prepared and disseminated as required by policies. The RN takes appropriate action in cases of serious incidents and emergencies. They escort or coordinate the movement of inmates/residents for medical treatment. The RN performs searches of individuals and objects for contraband detection. Working in confined areas and checking doors and windows for security is part of the job. The RN takes action to prevent or diffuse potentially disruptive situations. Rescue functions at accidents, emergencies, and disasters may be required. Administering basic emergency medical aid and ensuring the safety of individuals is necessary.
