POSITION PURPOSE: Provide manual labor support for concrete
technicians to ensure the safety and quality of transportation for
City of Enid residents.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support
the sides of excavations, erect scaffolding, and clean up rubble
debris and other waste materials.
- Assist Concrete Technicians in operating equipment used to
apply concrete, asphalt, or other materials to roadways and parking
lots, or equipment used for tamping gravel, dirt, or other
- Assist with removing existing concrete using a jackhammer and
clear work area of debris.
- Measure, mark, or record openings or distances to layout areas
where construction work will be performed.
- Clean chipped areas, using wire brush, and feel and observe
surface to determine if it is rough or uneven.
- Start engine, move throttles, controls, and levers to operate
backhoe, skid steer, and front end loader.
- Assist in setting the forms that hold concrete to the desired
pitch and depth, and align them.
- Assist in spreading, leveling, and smoothing concrete, using
rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma of general education
degree (GED); or six months to one year related experience and
or/training; or equivalent combination of education and

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Building and Construction - Knowledge of
materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or
repair of highways and roads.
SKILLS/ABILITIES: Working knowledge of operating various hand
and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement
mixers, small mechanical hoists.
Ability to operate a backhoe, skid steer, and front end

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS: Regular - 8 hour shift, typically 7:00 a.m.
to 3:30 p.m., Monday - Friday.
