Responsibilities Burn Unit Nurses are focused on helping patients recover from severe second and third-degree burns, or providing end-of-life treatment if needed – often responsible for observing, monitoring, and ventilating burn victims to protect their physical well-being. Burn Unit RNs job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Assess burn damage, monitor vital signs, and start IV fluids Educate patients on their prognosis and progress Apply salve and wound dressing as needed for patient care
