  • We are providing our rehab nurses the resources to achieve becoming Certified Rehabilitation Registered NursesImplements Occupational Therapy services/treatments for patients under the supervision of an OTR/L in an effort to restore function and prevent disability following injury, disease, or physical disability. He/she assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. Maintains appropriate documentation.Qualifications
    • Associates degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant required.
    • Eligible for or holds current Occupational Therapy Assistant licensure to practice in State of Oklahoma required.
    • BLS required.
    • First Aid certification preferred.
    • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in inpatient rehab or acute hospital preferred. New graduates may be considered.
    • Must successfully complete the Pre-employment Assessment.
    • Basic computer skills required.Functions
      • Demonstrates strong working knowledge and skill experience with a variety of diagnostic groups including, but not limited to, the following: orthopedic and arthritis related conditions; neurological groups including CVA, TBI, degenerative neurological diseases, SCI; generalized weakness as a result of medical or surgical conditions including DM, ESRD, amputation, COPD, CHF, and CABG.
      • Demonstrates a working knowledge of normal growth and development, related behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age (adult, geriatric) and diagnosis of patient services to support the provision of an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care.
      • Demonstrates knowledge if IRF-PAI (Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument) and the Care Tool and their application in payment for CMS.
      • Demonstrates the ability to provide the proper assistance, verbal cueing, et al necessary for optimal performance and patient outcome.
      • Effectively treats caseload with ability to appropriately judge required level of assistance patient will need to achieve set goals with gender/age specific criteria in mind and choosing appropriate treatment method, i.e. individual and/or group sessions as determined by supervising therapist to best achieve specific treatment goals.
      • Demonstrates the ability to instruct patients and/or caregivers in treatment procedures, home programs, orthotics/prosthetics, safety management, and adaptive or special equipment using patient's preferred method of instruction (written, oral, auditory, combination)
      • Demonstrates the ability to capture data in a home assessment and communicate findings to supervising OT for interpretation.
      • Demonstrates ability to perform/instruct patient in ADL (Activities of Daily Living) including but not limited to bathing and dressing and use of equipment as needed.
      • Demonstrates knowledge of management of patients with maladaptive behaviors.
      • Short and long term goals are established that are comprehensive, realistic, measurable, and involve the patient and/or family based on an individualized patient evaluation and input from supervising OT
      • The record is complete, detailed, and clearly relates patient level of function in quantifiable terms, treatment methods and strategies, patient response to treatment. Includes, but not limited to daily, weekly, team notes, D/C summary, and education activities. And completed according to departmental protocol.
      • Daily billing completed, including accurate reflection of beginning and ending treatment times in the medical record, in compliance with "3 hour rule" with appropriate exceptions documented.
      • Patient/family education is documented in designated and appropriate areas with home program as needed.
      • Discharge information including home exercise programs for patient/discharge destination is clear and written in "layman's" terms for patient/family to understand.
      • Effectively communicates with OT regarding patient's performance, changes in medical condition, goal attainment, etc.
      • Therapy boards and patient communication boards will be updated according to departmental protocol.
      • Demonstrates the ability to effectively review the patient's chart and communicate/collaborate with multidisciplinary team members regarding patient's condition.
      • Plans, organizes and prioritizes assigned caseload to provide efficient/cost effective care reflective of patient needs based on gender/age specific guideline and completes caseload within assigned workday according to departmental expectations.
      • Maintains current knowledge of professional practice required for patient population by attending appropriate in-services, unit meetings, continuing education programs and reading related literature and provides in-services to staff on topics pertinent to rehabilitation as requested to contribute to program improvement.
