Subject to a pre-employment criminal background check.As a position directly affecting the safety of others, the employee will be required to comply with all provisions of City of Enid's substance abuse policy, including random drug and alcohol testing.Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver's license with an acceptable driving record.POSITION PURPOSE: To increase production and efficiency of the workforce through quality selection, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware, software, personal computer networks, and peripheral equipment; and to promote computer literacy through training and education on department relevant applications.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES Develop and administer computer network infrastructure systems including backup, security, and user help. Troubleshoot system problems, perform installations, and connect/disconnect systems.Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs, system requirements, data flows, and systems definitions. Direct daily operations of department, analyzing workflow, establishing priorities, developing standards and setting deadlines. Assign, direct, review, and appraise the work of network specialist, software support technician, and other computer-related workers.Stay abreast of advances in technology. Develop computer information resources, providing for data security, control, and back-up, strategic computing, and disaster recovery. Perform system recovery after hours as needed.Review and approve all systems charts and programs prior to their implementation. Evaluate the organization's technology use and needs and recommend improvements, such as hardware and software upgrades, and assist department supervisors in software selection, use, and training. Control operational budget and expenditures. Meet with department heads, managers, supervisors, vendors, and personnel to solicit cooperation and resolve problems, including common computer and printer problems.Provide assistance to other departments as needed.Perform other duties as required.PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTSThe Information Technology division runs smoothly and efficiently.Computer and telecommunications systems run effectively 99.9% of the time. - Problems and computing needs are addressed in a timely manner.Software needs are assessed, and the appropriate software, computer, and telecommunications equipment is selected.Employees are well trained to perform at the ultimate level that technology allows.Effective working relations exist with City personnel.
